An improved ranking, illustrative of the Group’s ambitious CSR policy

Villepinte (France), October 29, 2019 – Guerbet (FR0000032526 GBT), a global specialist in contrast agents and solutions for medical imaging, has announced its continued presence in the 2019 Gaïa Index, the socially responsible investing (SRI) stock market index for mid-cap stocks that distinguishes French stocks according to their corporate social responsibility (CSR) performance.

Guerbet is positioned 14th in this year’s ranking of 230 SMEs and mid-cap companies, up 20 places compared to last year, and 12th out of 85 in the category of companies generating over 500 million euros of revenue, up 13 places. These two rankings, which are significantly better than last year, reflect the maturity of Guerbet’s environmental, social and governance (ESG) policy and the efforts the company has undertaken in this area.

The Gaïa Index is the benchmark sustainable development index for listed French mid-caps. Gaïa Rating, the ESG rating agency of EthiFinance, has conducted an annual data collection campaign since 2009 covering most of the listed SMEs in France. Companies are rated for their transparency and performance based on this information. Ratings are assigned according to 163 criteria (economic, governance, human capital, environmental and stakeholders) and are used by leading management companies in their management processes and investment decisions. Every year since its inception, this index has outperformed the CAC 40 and the CAC Mid & Small.

“We are proud of our Group’s performance, which reflects our commitment to a proactive CSR policy, driven historically by the Guerbet family. The ranking will increase our visibility among institutional investors. We are pursuing an ambitious strategic plan to shape the future of medical imaging and hope to leverage our CSR policy to improve our performance and set ourselves apart,” said Jérôme Estampes, CFO of Guerbet.

Guerbet’s CSR policy is structured around 4 pillars with key objectives and actions to be completed by 2023.

  • 1. Imaging products and services designed to improve patient prognosis and quality of life
  • 2. A responsible social policy developed around five main themes: diversity, prevention, recognition, commitment and accountability
  • 3. An HSE policy that gives absolute priority to safety of people while also minimizing environmental impacts at all levels
  • 4. Business ethics to promote the fight against corruption, prevention of conflicts of interest and anti-competitive practices as well as respect for the medical code of ethics.

In terms of governance, Guerbet has substantially improved its position in the field of business ethics and CSR policy, receiving support at the highest level. The performance of its governance bodies remains one of Guerbet’s great strengths.

Regarding stakeholders, the actions taken by Guerbet to improve its responsible purchasing policy were also recognized in the rating.

With respect to labor policy, the indicators for work conditions, health & safety and skills development have significantly increased.

Concerning the environment, Guerbet’s policy and performance with regard to resource management and waste control have produced good results. Guerbet has also obtained the CAHPP green index A++ quality rating this year, a label attesting to its maturity on sustainable development issues.
