2022 Without a Scalpel Day

"no surgery, no stitches, no scars"

Celebrating minimally invasive therapies.

Since Charles Dotter performed the very first angioplasty in 1964, the practice of Interventional Radiology has evolved significantly.

The ability to shrink or even eradicate a tumor by delivering a chemotherapeutic agent directly to the targeted area using a small catheter tube and image guidance is a notion the Interventionists of the 1960s would have most probably considered unthinkable.

Hence the celebration of Without a Scalpel Day on January 16th every year, to recognise the opportunities to treat a disease without a scalpel.
